Blue Diamonds Integrated is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Contract Medical Courier to transport medical specimens, lab samples, supplies, and documents between healthcare facilities, laboratories, and clinics throughout the Houston area. This role is essential to ensuring timely, safe, and compliant delivery that directly supports patient care.

• Job Type: Contract (Independent Contractor – 1099)

  Blue Diamonds Integrated is seeking dependable, detail-oriented, and safety-focused Contract Medical Couriers to transport medical specimens, lab samples, supplies, and confidential documents between healthcare facilities, laboratories, and clinics across the greater Houston area. This essential role ensures timely, safe, and fully compliant deliveries that directly support patient diagnostics, treatment, and care.

• Key Responsibilities

  Pick up and deliver medical specimens, lab samples, medical records, supplies, and documents across Houston and surrounding areas with urgency and precision.

  Strictly adhere to HIPAA regulations and confidentiality protocols when handling protected health information (PHI).

  Ensure proper handling, labeling, packaging, and transport conditions (including temperature control when required) to maintain specimen integrity.

  Maintain accurate delivery logs, chain-of-custody documentation, and route records for complete traceability and compliance.

  Plan efficient delivery routes using GPS/navigation tools to meet strict deadlines and optimize schedules.

  Communicate proactively and professionally with dispatch, labs, clinics, and healthcare staff on delivery status, issues, or updates.

  Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety needs promptly.

  Comply with all local, state, and federal transportation, safety, and biohazard regulations.

• Required Qualifications

  High school diploma or equivalent.

  Valid Texas driver's license with a clean driving record (no major violations).

  Reliable personal vehicle in good condition with current auto insurance (minimum coverage required).

  Current HIPAA certification/training (covering Privacy & Security Rules; proof of completion from a recognized provider required).

  Current OSHA-compliant Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) certification (per 29 CFR 1910.1030; annual training required; proof required).

  Ability to pass a thorough background check, drug screening, and any additional verifications (must have a clear background check).

  Strong time management, organizational, and prioritization skills for a fast-paced, independent environment.

  Excellent communication and customer service skills for interacting with healthcare professionals.

  Ability to work independently while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and compliance.

• Preferred Qualifications

  Prior experience as a medical courier, specimen delivery driver, or in healthcare logistics.

  Knowledge of medical terminology, specimen handling procedures, and biohazard protocols.

  Strong familiarity with Houston-area roads, highways, and key locations (e.g., Katy, Sugar Land, The Woodlands, etc.).

• Physical Requirements

  Ability to lift and carry 25–50 pounds repeatedly.

  Comfort working in varying weather conditions (heat, rain, etc.).

  Ability to sit and drive for extended periods while remaining alert and focused.
